Chassis Sub-Team: Frame (2022), Pedal Box (2023), Ergonomics (2024)
December 2021 - Present
Ergonomics Lead (2023-Present)
Former Public Relations Manager (2023-24)
The Formula SAE club at SCU was started from scratch in 2021 by my friends and I. It is an organization where we can apply our interests in cars in a hands-on academic setting. From developing parts of the chassis frame in CAD with SOLIDWORKS in 2022 to collaborating on the Pedal Box in 2023, I ended up loving driver Ergonomics.
Personal experience racing at Sonoma Raceway propelled me into designing the seat, harness, headrest, and firewall from 2024-2025. Holding an SCCA license allowed me to become the expected drive for the competition in Michigan, in June 2025.
Before I was able to enroll in Statics and Machine Design, I learned how to use static equations to calculate the forces and constraints on each part of the rear impact structure.
After our team completed the full chassis assembly in SOLIDWORKS, we taught each other how to use Abaqus CAE for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the structure.
During the 2023 academic year, I collaborated on the development of our Pedal Box. I helped to finalize the CAD by meticulously checking the angles of each complex plane and adding any missed details including a heel support plate to allow for heel-to-toe driving.
As the appointed Ergonomics Lead, I designed and delegated the manufacturing of a physical Ergonomics Jig scale model out of wood, to determine the driver ergonomics and angles.
I was appointed Public Relations Manager during the 2023-24 season, where I worked to expand our network, created advertisement's and events, and designed a new team logo and merchandise in Canva and Photoshop.
Currently, I've learned to utilized my experience racing to research driver ergonomics and safety. I'm leading my team in the development of the seat, firewall, harness mounting, and headrest designs and manufacturing plans. SOLIDWORKS helped us to determine the most optimal design iteration by running the CAD in FEA for static modeling.
